3rd INTRA & INTER–SCHOOL POWERPOINT PRESENTATION CONTEST (2004-2005)

in KOLKATA and other parts of West Bengal

The immensely popular “3rd Intra-school and Inter-school POWERPOINT presentation competition” (conceptualized and enabled by Deep Banerjee in 2002 – 2003 as the only contest of its kind in the country) is back. This year it will be held during December 2004 – March 2005.

In this era of Globalization and Information Technology, creativity is the buzzword. Inspired by this, some corporate heavyweights are jointly holding “POWERPLAY 2004 – 2005”. The objective is to judge the most IT savvy school with the best creativity in Calcutta and other parts of West Bengal. Each of the supporting brands has a varying role to play in execution of the contest.

Each of the sponsors had a varying role to play in execution of the contest.

Duration:    December 2004 – April 2005

·     As far as students or schools were concerned, no participation fee or proof of purchase of any product or service is required to participate in the contest.

Terms and conditions:

·       Participating schools will have to give me an ‘intention of participation’ in writing on the school letterhead.

·     Schools are required to depute 1 – 3 individuals with whom the organizers can co-ordinate matters related to the contest.

·    Posters and banners of supporting companies announcing the contest will be put up at strategic locations in participating schools.

·      Participating number of teams (minimum requirement): For the intra-school championship, each of these schools will have to nominate a minimum of 15 teams (with no limit on the maximum number of teams) of 2 members each from each of the Class Groups  4 – 6      and      7 – 9.

·      Participants' identity: A participation form has to be filled up (in the hard & soft form) by each participating team member.

·      Venue: The intra-school & inter-school championship will be held at the school premises. The dates for the intra-school & inter-school finals of “Power Point Presentation Competition” will be decided by the school authorities.

·     Topics (Intra-School round): For the intra-school round of “Powerplay 2004 - 2005”, details about topics will be communicated to the respective schools/ teams atleast 6 days prior to the event.

·    Topics (Inter-School round): A single or multiple topic, will be given by us (after completion of the intra-school contest at school) for preparation for the inter-school finals of “Powerplay 2004 - 2005”. Approx 5 – 6 days time will be given to prepare for the inter-school final presentation.

·      Preparation: Students can bring hard copies of the contents and soft copies of pictures, animations, sound from elsewhere. The actual presentation will have to be made at the school.  

·      Number of slides (Intra-School): For the intra-school round, each team has to make a 1 + 8 slides (no more and no less) Power Point Presentation on the selected/ allotted topic in 2 hours time. The first slide will mandatorily contain the personal details of both the participating team members.

·      Number of slides (Inter-School): For the inter-school round, each team has to make a 1 + 10 slides (no more and no less) Power Point Presentation on the allotted topic in 2 hours time. The first slide will again contain the personal details of both the participating team members.

·      The 1st slide: It must be in black & white with no animations, background designs, clip arts and word arts. The entire slide should be typed in Arial font in size 20. The slide layout should have a horizontal bar on top and two vertical bars below. The horizontal bar will contain the Topic, Group name, Date of Intra/ Inter School Contest, Name and Address of School. Each of the vertical bars will contain the Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Residential Address, Phone num, Contact Mobile num, Father’s 1st name & profession, Mother’s 1st name & profession, Class & Section, Whether there’s a Computer at home or not for each of the two team members. single slide containing the personal details of both the participating team members will have to be made with a white background.

·      Intra-school winners: 4 teams of 2 members each from the class group 4 – 6  AND   4 teams of 2 members each from the class group 7 – 9 will be selected/ judged by the participating schools themselves. 

·      Inter-school winners: These 8 teams will represent their respective schools in the inter-school finals by making a presentation on the allotted topic(s).

·      Contest schedule: Schools are at liberty to carry out the intra and inter rounds of the contest at their premises spread over one or more days. However, the dates must be communicated to us in advance.

·      Judging criterion: Presentations exceeding 750 kb will be disqualified. Sound effect is not an important criterion. The look, feel, content and creativity will be the most important judging criterion.

·      File and Folder naming: The presentation files will have to be individually saved with an allotted team name in a folder bearing the same name. All Senior Team Members from any school will have 'S' as the prefix, while Junior Team Members will have 'J' as the prefix while allotting  their team names. For example, from any particular school the intra-school presentation S7.ppt made by team S7 has to be saved in a folder named S7. During the inter-school round, the file names and folder names will change. If S7 ranks 2nd in the intra-school round from a particular school, the corresponding file and folder names will be S2nd-S7. Present and future instructions on this need to followed carefully.

·      Retrieval of presentations: Presentations of all (intra & inter-school) participants will be retrieved from the school computers. The participating schools will have to make arrangements to provide me with all their presentations in a CD (free of any computer virus). All such presentations will eventually become the property of the organisers.

·      Judges: The inter-school winners will be judged by a distinguished panel nominated by the organisers of the contest. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

·      Participants and school authorities should check the website at regular intervals for details. For any critical queries, please revert to us.

Results:    Results of the inter-school contest was announced on 07.10.2005 at 2.00 PM and is available for viewing in www.marketingpundit.com. Gifts, trophies, certificates will be awarded to a large number of participants. These will be handed over at the respective schools in November – December 2005.
